Encouraging results on Sakami

Matamec Explorations announces encouraging results obtained on the Sakami property (James Bay Territory), following a sampling program conducted in September with a goal to better define the geometry of the known showings. On showing 43, previously identified by drill hole EX-43 which had returned an assay of 2.03 g/t Au over 6 metres, channel sampling returned the following gold assays:
  • at 100 metres east of the drill hole: 1,93 g/t, 3,07 g/t, 36,20 g/t and 2,03 g/t over 2 metres as well as 15,07 g/t, 2,90 g/t, 3,50 g/t, 0,27 g/t and 1,67 g/t Au over 2,5 metres;
  • at 56 metres east of the drill hole: 0,83 g/t, 0,70 g/t, 0,40 g/t, 2,47 g/t, 0,65 g/t, 1,20 g/t and 0,43 g/t over 3,5 metres.
As well, additional outcrop stripping now indicates that showing 43 is comprised of three gold-bearing structures, parallel to each other and oriented at 280 degrees. The depth and lateral extensions remain open. On showing 9.6, previously identified by stripping 1,3 km west of showing 43, a chip sampling program returned the following gold assays: 4,27 g/t, 7,43 g/t, 4,90 g/t, 10,0 g/t, 4,0 g/t, 20,90 g/t, 3,40 g/t and 5,83 g/t Au. A previous chip sampling program in June, had returned the following gold assays: 27,70 g/t, 28,75 g/t, 3,53 g/t, 0,53 g/t, 18,90 g/t, 5,40 g/t and 8,80 g/t Au. As well, additional outcrop stripping has permitted lengthening the zone southward and allowed us to obtain a better understanding of the geological context. The gold showings of different orientations than the regional structures, opens new possibilities for exploration of the property. It is plausible to think that these showings may be enriched at their junction with the regional structures indicated by the MAG and induced polarization surveys. With a surface area in excess of 18 000 hectares, the Sakami property covers a 35 kilometre segment along the Sakami thrust fault between the Opinaca and La Grande geological subprovinces. Known as the «Sakami fault», this regional structure is an important structure along which several exploration societies are actively working. The above-mentioned work was done by Consul-Teck, under the supervision of Jean Lavallée, geologist and mining engineer, who acted as the qualified person on the behalf of Matamec. All assays were analysed by Laboratoire d’analyse Bourlamaque, of Val d’Or.
