Opinaca Gold West
The Opinaca Gold West property is 100% owned by Matamec and includes 289 claims covering 15,000 hectares. The James Bay Road crosses the property. The claims covers over 40 kilometres of prospective volcano-sedimentary belt in a generally east-west orientation.
At a regional scale, the property straddles a major magnetic contrast connected with the Goldcorp Éléonore Mine located about 50 kilometres to the east. The reader is cautioned that there is no guarantee that mineralization on the Éléonore property is indicative of the type of mineralization on the Opinaca Gold West property.
Historical works have identified geological indicators of a gold bearing system such as arsenopyrite and tourmaline. High gold-arsenic concentrations were also observed from lake sediments on the property area.
The main area of interest is located 40 to 80 kilometres west of the Eleonore deposit based on following criteria:
- Sharp break and strong disturbance of the regional structure hosting volcano-sedimentary belt remnants
- Historical gold showing in varied contexts along a multiple km long trend
- Strong geochemical gold signature in the secondary environment
- Proximity of high metamorphic gradient front near geological province frontier
