Vulcain

The Vulcain property, 100% owned by Matamec, is located in the Hainaut Township in the Outaouais region of Québec. The property is being explored for nickel-copper mineralization containing cobalt, gold, silver, and platinum group elements (PGE).

The Vulcain claims, which cover the Renzy Lake copper-nickel deposit, are located 100 km west-northwest of Mont-Laurier, 165 km southeast of Val D’Or and 280 km west-northwest of Montréal.

The property features ultramafic rocks that are associated with the copper (Cu) and nickel (Ni) mineralization, with some Co, Au, Ag, Pd and Pt, that was found at the old Renzy Mine. The presence of these ultramafic rocks was previously interpreted as part of a layered sill, possibly part of a ring-shaped ultramafic complex.

The Ni-Cu occurrences are all found inside ultramafic sills. The sills, varying in width from 10 to 300m and measuring up to 3 km long, cut through the paragneiss of the Grenville supergroup.
