MATAMEC-Assistance Granted Within the Program for Junior Mining Exploration Companies
09/20/01 - VAL D'OR, QUEBEC--The summer exploration campaign and preparatory work for the fall drilling (October 2001) ended Friday on the Sakami property. In a very near future, as soon as the last samples taken will have been analyzed, results of the work and analyses carried out during that period will be divulged.
MATAMEC is receiving, within the assistance program for junior exploration companies, the amount of $400,000 which is the maximum granted by company in the Northern Quebec region, to carry out work on its Sakami property located at the James Bay. This financial assistance will allow MATAMEC to increase the exploration work of this property which presents a very promising mining potential.
Allocated amounts to MATAMEC according to the program will allow to carry out the following additional work: geological mapping, line cutting, magnetic survey and induced polarization, exploration and drilling (winter 2002). These works will take place from September 2001 to March 2002. The main objective is to continue the exploration on the Sakami property beyond the nearby sector and more particularly along the Sakami fault towards the north. MATAMEC is an exploration mining company whose shares are traded on the Montreal Stock Exchange under the symbol MAT (it will be traded on CDNX October 1st, 2001).
